Kester Guestroom

We have big ambitions for Kester Road which will I anticipate will take us a long time to reach. Until we achieve these goals I still want my house to feel homely and welcoming without throwing away valuable money.

I love nothing more than having friends over for food & drinks so ensuring our spare room was functioning and practical was one of my first priorities when we moved in. For me personally there is nothing worse than staying at someone else’s house, missing your home comforts and just feeling like you are treading on eggshells in the morning.

I set myself a budget of £100 to furnish the spare bedroom. We already had a bed from our previous house and found a full tin of Farrow & Ball Elephant’s Breath in the shed when we moved into Kester Road – win win! So my £100 budget was literally for soft furnishings, to make the room feel more ‘hygge’ (yep I have just discovered the ‘Little book of Hygge’)

Off I went to my favourite place – Ikea. Armed with my trolley and £100 budget I set off on a mission to transform my unloved guestroom into a warm, welcoming space. My purchases were as follows:

  • Lenda Curtains in white – £20.00
  • Discontinued Cushion & cover – £10.00 est.
  • Tejn Sheepskin style rug – £10.00
  • Skurar Tea light holders – £2.00 each
  • Angland Table Lamp – £12.00
  • Bild Print – £5.00
  • Ribba frame – £9.00

Total spend: £70.00

The mirror is from Home Sense and Bedding from Next Home.

Here is a shot of the room as it is now vs. the room before its mini makeover

The room has a calm, relaxed vibe and I also have two bath towels hung behind the door so my guests can help themselves to a shower when they please.

In time both our guestrooms will be receiving a larger makeover however until that time comes, I am so happy with how the first bedroom has turned out on such a small budget.

Happy Budgeting.
